Now on 4K/Blu-Ray/Digital: TERMS OF ENDEARMENT

TERMS OF ENDEARMENT

It’s been forty years since Terms of Endearment sent audiences running for their box of kleenex. It’s one of the great tearjerkers in film history, and Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment is proud to now include it in a new 2-disc 4K, Blu-Ray, Digital release as part of their Paramount Presents collection.

James L. Brooks won three Oscars for producing, directing, and writing film, which is based on the novel by Larry McMurtry. It tells the mother-daughter story of Aurora Greenway (Shirley McLaine) and Emma Horton (Debra Winger) and their decades long back and forth relationship. Aurora became a single mom when Emma was a young girl and became very protective of her. Emma would go on to marry and have children at a young age with her husband, Flap (Jeff Daniels), who Aurora doesn’t quite approve of. While Emma and Flap are off living their own life, Aurora becomes smitten with her neighbor, Garrett, a retired NASA astronaut, played by Jack Nicholson.

Terms of Endearment is a wonderful adult drama that continues to ring true forty years later. Brooks made this film a timeless and relatable human story full of all the emotions. His sense of comedy is in full effect relying on Jack Nicholson’s charm to bring out all of attitude within Shirley McLaine’s Aurora. And yes, by the end, you will be reaching for those kleenex. Brooks gets wonderful performances out of his actors with McLaine and Nicholson winning Oscars for their work. Debra Winger was also in Best Actress against Shirley McLaine.
