ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL JOINS “HALLOWEEN KILLS”
Halloween enthusiasts are rejoicing with the news that the character of Tommy Doyle will be appearing in Halloween Kills. Blumhouse Pictures announced that Anthony Michael Hall will now be playing the character who first made his appearance in the original film as the little boy, then played Brian Andrews, that Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) was babysitting on that fateful night. They carved jack-o-lanterns, and she rolled her eyes at the fact he hid comic books under the couch. Audiences would go on to see Paul Rudd (yes, that Paul Rudd) play the character in the sixth film, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. There are rumors that Blumhouse tried to get Rudd to come back to the franchise, but he was unavailable due to previous commitments. The only catch there is that, theoretically, the latest Halloween ignored all the sequels, so his version of the character wouldn’t exist in a continuity context. Small details for us nerds.
Anthony Michael Hall was most recently seen in Riverdale, The Goldbergs, and War Machine. He launched his career playing the geeky kid in Brat Pack films like Weird Science, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles. He outgrew that image and later appeared in Edward Scissorhands, The Dark Knight, and The Dead Zone.
Halloween Kills is the first of two upcoming films we will see in the Halloween franchise. It will once again be directed by David Gordon Green who will co-write the screenplay with Danny McBride and Scott Teems. Look for it in theaters October 16, 2020 with Halloween Ends arriving October 15, 2021.
